What Should I Take To Eat While Camping?
One of the great things about camping is the constant
picnic-type atmosphere. We actually eat healthier on our camping trips
than we do at home, since we take time to prepare good meals rather
than eating fast food takeout.
Since you can pack just about anything in your car, your camping menu
can be pretty elaborate if you choose. With a good ice chest, a two-
or three-burner stove, a grill, and a few utensils, you can pretty much
cook anything you would normally cook at home. The best thing is to
plan your menu for the trip before you leave, so that you can purchase
and/or pack all the necessary ingredients for your meals. Take bottled
water to use for cooking and for drinking. And then just let your imagination
run wild.
A typical day's menu might looks something like this:
Breakfast:
· Cereal (hot or cold)
· Breakfast bars
· Fruit
· Coffee
Lunch:
· Sandwiches
· Chips
· Fruit
· Cookies
· Soft Drinks or Beer
Dinner:
· Grilled Chicken
· Green Beans
· Long grain and wild rice
· Bread
· Wine
· Cookies
Snacks: Fresh fruit, peanut butter and crackers, sunflower seeds, trail
mix, and of course, SMORES!
