Hiking boots
Hiking boots provide the necessary support and traction
for back roads trips. For a short walk through the woods you may be
able to wear sneakers comfortably. However, hiking boots should be purchased
for longer hikes.
If you are taking day trips for a few hours shop for lightweight hiking
boots. They are perfect for a two to three hour hike if you are not
carrying much weight. Like hiking boots are flexible, relatively inexpensive
but do not have the same support as heavier boots.
For longer trips with a rugged terrain you will need a heavier duty
pair of hiking boots. These boots have strong traction to keep you from
slipping and good ankle support which will prevent ankle twists under
the weight of the pack. For extended trips look for waterproof boots
to keep your feet dry.
